Our Story

Sugar Life

Hi! I'm Vanessa, owner/maker at Vie Sucre. Thank you for stopping by to learn about my home bakery operation, started in 2021.

Vie Sucre means 'sugar life' in French. Appropriately named because I absolutely consider my life sweet. 

I am a self taught baker and life long pastry lover. My love for macarons started when I was seeking out gluten free desserts nearly a decade ago.

And it was love at first bite!  my macaron fandom was instantaneous.

Years later, when my husband and I got married in New Orleans, Louisiana, we even had a macaron tower instead of a traditional wedding cake--and then these delicious cookies became not just yummy-but sentimental too.

A few years ago, I enrolled in a macaron class for fun and was hooked and  knew I had to deep dive into the world of making these fancy cookies.  Fast forward to launching Vie Sucre, I had found 'my thing'. 

And here I am now- with a fully licensed, registered, and insured bakery. Waa-laa! Well, kind of, it's  been a lot of work to get to this point.

This is a GIANT lane change from my prior professional life in higher education and I could not have ever predicted the curvy roads in life that would take me here. I love it and it is a joy to bake for others and be a small part of special occasions. Thank you for considering me for your next get together, big or small. 

Being a home baking business is a passion that I am thankful for in many ways, as it allows me to utilize my creativity and love for precision, while connecting with others. A huge bonus- it also allows me flexibility to take care of  our beautiful young daughter, Emmy.
